Daintree Shuttle
In early 2009, Cairns Regional Council received $120,000 from the Queensland State Government Blueprint for the Bush funding, to develop, implement and evaluate the Mossman Link Bus Service. The name of this new service, Daintree Shuttle, was selected through a community competition in the Port Douglas and Mossman Gazette.
The new transport service is for residents living in the areas of Mossman, Mossman Gorge, Cooya Beach, Wonga Beach, Newell Beach, the Daintree Village and as far north as Cape Tribulation. It is designed to assist in linking residents from these areas who can often feel isolated and have difficulties in accessing services, facilities, social and community connections that may be located outside their immediate community.

The Blueprint for the Bush funding is to be implemented over a two year period and is about providing transport to areas where there are not already existing public services. Whilst the focus areas currently have some services such as tourist and school bus services, affordable public transport options, particularly for people living north of the Daintree River, are not available.
An evaluation of the subsidised service will inform the project with the aim of being a financially viable and sustainable service after the two year funding period.
