Babinda declared RV friendly town
29 October 2009
Babinda has been declared a town that welcomes recreational vehicles and their travellers.
Cairns Regional Council and the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia (CMCA) have reached a mutual understanding for acknowledging that the town has met the criteria required to be accepted into a RV Friendly Town (RVFT) scheme.
Division 1 Councillor Paul Gregory said Council has agreed to erect two RVFT signs to be positioned within the town area clearly signalling to those travelling of Babinda’s status as RV friendly.
“Council has agreed to allow street parking for motorhomes, campervans and caravans in Mill and School Sts, near the town’s centre,” Cr Gregory said.
“Overnight parking for these vehicles will be allowed up to 72 hours at Rotary Park on Howard Kennedy Drive.”
“Council and CMCA will have some links on their respective websites that will promote Babinda’s RV friendliness and the organisation will promote Babinda as such in its publications,” the Councillor said.
Council recognises that the agreement is made on behalf of the wider recreational vehicle community and is not restricted to members of CMCA.
