Help make Christmas merrier - how to donate
The Mayor's Christmas Cheer Appeal is a voluntary organisation dedicated to assisting local families with children in need, by distributing food hampers at Christmas time.
Your monetary donation to the Mayor's Christmas Cheer Appeal will be used to buy food hampers that will be packed and delivered to needy families in December.
Donations can be left at Council's Customer Service Centres in Cairns and Mossman, at any branch of Cairns Libraries, in specially marked collection boxes at selected businesses, or posted to The Mayor's Christmas Cheer Appeal, PO Box 359 Cairns Q 4870. Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
Does your family need help at Christmas?
If you currently receive a government family benefit and have family with children up to the age of 15 years are eligible.
Make an appointment to an agency of your choice - select from The Salvation Army, Wu Chopperen Social Health, St Vincent de Paul Society or Cairns Regional Council's Mossman Office (see PDF document for full details and appointment hours). Take your Pension/Health benefit card with you.
If you do not receive a government benefit and are a family in need, write a letter outlining your situation to: Confidential, The Mayor's Christmas Cheer Appeal, PO Box 359 Cairns Q 4870.
