Council is again providing residents with the opportunity to collect free mulch for domestic users to assist in water retention and waterwise activities in the garden.

WHEN:

Friday 11th - Monday 14th December 2009 (4 days only)

WHERE:

  • Portsmith Transfer Station (open 7 days 8:30am - 5:15pm)
  • Smithfield Transfer Station (open Mon - Sat 7:00am - 5:15pm; Sun 9:00am - 5:15pm)
  • Killaloe Transfer Station (open Mon - Sat 8:00am - 5:30pm; Sun 9:00am - 5:30pm)
  • Newell Beach Transfer Station (open Mon & Fri 7:00am - 12:00pm; Wed 12:00pm - 6:00pm; Sat 7:00am - 6:00pm)

WHAT:

  • Free mulch until stocks last at each facility
  • Free Mulch is 'green' (not cured) mulch and may still contain active ingredients (such as weeds and ants)
  • Cairns Regional Council makes no guarantee concerning the quality of the mulch, nor assumes any liability for injury or property damage as a result of the use of this mulch.
  • No other dates/times and locations will be offering free mulch
  • For enquiries regarding Electric Ant or Crazy Ant quarantine, please contact the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries on 13 25 23.

Minimum Requirements for Collection:

  • Domestic only; utes and/or trailers and light trucks (vehicle weight to GVM 4 tonnes maximum)
  • Council staff will assist with loading vehicle using appropriate mechanical equipment

 

2009-10 Recycling & Waste Collection dates

Recycling collections will continue every 2 weeks. 
Remember to put paper, plastics, aluminum & steel and glass into your yellow-lid recycling bins.
