Cairns Libraries
The former Cairns City and Douglas Shire Councils ceased to exist on 14 March 2008. All members of the former Douglas Shire library service automatically become members of Cairns Libraries and are able to take advantage of all services offered at any branch in the Cairns Regional Council area.

Mossman and Gordonvale Libraries go solar!
New grid connected solar energy systems at the Mossman and Gordonvale libraries are reducing Council's electricity costs and cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
Installed as part of Council's Cities for Climate Protection Action Plan, and launched in August 2008, the 2kW grid connect renewable energy systems generate electricity for use onsite. Read more about the renewable energy systems.
